Vidder Technology

Vidder's Micro Web Server (MWS) is a small footprint software program that is installed in a PC or embedded CPU co-located with the imaging device. MWS video streams can be accessed via URLs that can be viewed from any browser. No modifications or additions are needed on the viewer side.

Once activated Vidder's MWS handles all of the functions required for networking HD video including:

Key Features and Attributes

Ad hoc deployment
Vidder enables video streams to be accessed via a Web URL even if the MWS is located in a private network (behind a Firewall/NAT). Vidder assigns a permanent IPv6 address to the MWS, which is separate from the IPv4 location. Video content is accessible via a permanent URL which is bound to the IPv6 address of the MWS. Viewers simply bookmark the MWS URL and click whenever they want to “tune in”. Vidder's IPv6 design is completely transparent and works over existing IPv4 networks (without need of any network upgrades or equipment purchase).

Bandwidth efficiency
Vidder's URL-based video architecture ensures that bandwidth is only used when a viewer is watching a video stream. The MWS also encodes video in H264 to ensure the best video quality for the available bandwidth. H.264 provides much better video quality than Flash-based video (which sends a stream of images). The MWS only transmits changes in the image (versus Flash which sends the entire image). Thus Vidder achieves much better resolution and color than PC-based solutions.

Cost effective architecture
Vidder's small footprint software can turn a laptop into a professional quality video server. This eliminates the cost and set-up time of provisioning a dedicated video server and network connection. By pushing the content server function to the edge, huge cost, scalability, and flexibility advantages are achieved.
