Wireless IDS

The Importance of Wireless IDS

A Wireless IDS can prevent malicious users from connecting unauthorized wireless access points to the internal network – something that could permit unrestricted access at a later time.

Limitations of Wireless IDS

Less expensive wireless IDS devices do not automatically mitigate rogue access points, nor detect Bluetooth devices that can interfere with WiFi access.

Vidder’s Wireless IDS Recommendations

Vidder recommends deploying Wireless IDS systems to mitigate rogue access points and detect other types of devices emitting RF in the WiFi frequency range. The Wireless IDS system should be persistently active ("always on") and be capable of automatically terminating sessions upon detection of rogue access points.

Vidder also strongly recommends all Ethernet ports support 802.1X such that unauthorized WiFi access points will not be allowed on the network.
