Mark Hoover, CEO
Mark Hoover has been involved in the technology and market development of security and networking technologies over a period of almost thirty years, including Firewalls, VPNs, IP routing, ATM, Gigabit Ethernet Switching, and load balancers. Most recently, he has been a Venture Partner at Woodside Fund for two years. Prior to that he was the president of Acuitive, a strategic marketing consulting firm that helped define product and market strategies for start-ups, including Brocade, Alteon Websystems, Netscreen, Maverick Semiconductor, Redline Networks, and many others. He started his career at AT&T Bell Labs and moved to SynOptics/Bay Networks before founding Acuitive.

 

Junaid Islam, President and CTO
Junaid Islam is the founder of Vidder and has over 20 years of product development experience in the security and networking industry. Prior to founding Vidder, Junaid founded Bivio Networks, which invented the first programmable Gigabit speed Deep Packet Inspection device which continues to be used for red/black security and surveillance applications by the US government. During the 90's, as an architect at StrataCom & Cisco, Junaid played a leading role in the development of Frame Relay, ATM & MPLS.

 

Ted Schroeder, VP of Engineering
Ted Schroeder has 30 years of experience doing engineering and engineering management in both the data and voice networking industries. Most recently he co-founded FreeHand Music and ran the engineering group. Before that he co-founded Alteon WebSystems where he was co-designer of one of the most sold gigabit Ethernet MACs. He is an expert in Layer 4-7 switching and was a regular speaker and panel member at technical conferences around the world on this topic. He has also worked at various other companies including Auspex Systems, Ultra Network Technologies, Cohesive Network and Amdahl. He holds a BS in Math and an MS in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.

 

Brent Bilger, VP of Solutions Architecture
Brent Bilger has been involved in the definition and implementation of security and networking products for over twenty-five years, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management, configuration compliance, privileged access management, identity and access management, and IP routing. Most recently, he was an Executive in Residence at US Venture Partners. Prior to that he was the vice president of marketing at CloudPassage, a leading security SaaS company for elastic clouds. Other companies he's been involved with in either an operational or consulting roll include FastSoft, Nicira, Altor Networks, Force10 Networks, MMC Networks, and Cisco Systems. He holds an AB in Math and BE in Engineering from Dartmouth College and an ME from Cornell University.

 

Investors

Dan Ahn - Voyager Capital
Dan focuses on Web and data center infrastructure, mobile related and other core technology areas. He has extensive experience in venture capital investing, portfolio company management, and technology entrepreneurship. Prior to Voyager, Dan was a partner and managing director at Woodside Fund for nine years. At Woodside, he has led the firm\'s investing in core technology and infrastructure companies, and led the creation, development and investment in numerous successful companies, including companies such as Analogix and Berkeley Design. Prior to Woodside Fund, he was an associate at the Foster Management Company, a venture capital firm that invested in and consolidated fragmented service companies. Prior to that, Dan was the co-founder and president of a successful technology startup company, Endpoint Technologies, Inc., which developed and sold real-time manufacturing control systems for semiconductor device production. He was responsible for the company\'s product management, business development, and finance. The company was acquired by Applied Materials. Prior to that, Dan was an analyst in the venture capital group at CS First Boston, where he worked with information technology companies. Dan has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA, magna cum laude, from Harvard College. In addition to being a classical violinist, Dan enjoys outdoor activities and reading.

 

David Lane - Onset Ventures
Over the past 23 years, David Lane has created, built and financed start-up companies, which has resulted in multiple successful public offerings and acquisitions. He has directly managed venture capital funds totaling in excess of $2 Billion. At ONSET, David specializes in cloud-enabling infrastructure software, SaaS, information security, healthcare IT, mobile solutions and commercializing disruptive IT technologies developed at leading research universities. He currently works with the following portfolio companies: AuthenTec, PacketMotion, Pancetera, Truviso and Vindicia. Prior to becoming a managing director of ONSET, David co-founded Diamondhead Ventures and led the firm's investments in Danger (acquired by Microsoft), Entercept Security Technologies (acquired by McAfee) and UPEK (acquired by AuthenTec). Before Diamondhead, he was a senior venture capital investment officer at the Harvard Management Company, where he focused on making direct investments in seed to later stage opportunities in the IT and life science sectors. David's other investments include: Applied Immune Sciences (IPO), Harmonic (IPO), Kofax Image Products (IPO), TriQuint Semiconductor (IPO), NexGen (IPO), Quidel (IPO), Viewlogic Systems (IPO) and Harbridge Merchant Services (acquired by First Data Corporation). David earned a B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Southern California and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School. He serves on the University of Southern California Engineering School's Board of Counselors, the Engineering School Dean's industry advisory board as well as several non-profit boards.
